阿難下。二、商較所聞之法。前二句牒難辭。謂阿難是佛成道夜生，年至二十方為侍者。二十年前佛所說法並具不聞，何得結集諸經皆稱我聞？

From 'Ānanda' downward: second, examining and comparing the dharmas that were heard. The preceding two lines state the objection: namely, Ānanda was born on the night the Buddha attained the Way, and only became an attendant when he reached twenty years of age. For all the dharmas preached by the Buddha in the twenty years prior, he was completely absent and did not hear them; how could he claim 'I heard' in compiling all the sūtras?
