降伏等者。彼心即上相應心也。制令還住，即却使相應也。此即依住修說降伏義。經論相契聖旨頗同，故如上說理實然矣。

On "Subduing and so forth": "that mind" is the aforementioned corresponding mind. Restraining it to make it return and abide means causing it to correspond again. This, then, is explaining the meaning of subduing on the basis of abiding and cultivating. The sūtra and treatise accord with one another and the sagely intent is very much the same; hence, as stated above, the principle is truly so.
