On "Therefore we know..." and so forth: concluding the meaning. "Three practices as one": only when the three meanings are complete does it constitute a single practice. If one merely generates the mind and subdues without cultivating practice, it is not practice. If one only generates the mind and cultivates practice without subduing, it is also not practice. If one merely subdues and cultivates practice without generating the mind, it is likewise not practice. Like the three legs of a cauldron, like the three luminaries of the sky, not one may be lacking. The marvel of the translation of the sūtra lies precisely herein.
