重言等者，善吉所讚雅契佛心，若不重言安表善極。如顏回死，夫子歎之云：「天喪予！天喪予！」注云：「再言者，痛傷之甚也。」吉凶雖別殷勤頗同。

On "Repeating words and so forth": what Subhūti praised elegantly accorded with the Buddha's mind; if he did not repeat his words, how could he express the utmost excellence? Just as when Yan Hui died, the Master lamented him, saying: "Heaven has bereft me! Heaven has bereft me!" The commentary says: "Speaking twice shows the extremity of grief and heartbreak." Although auspicious and inauspicious differ, their earnestness is quite the same.
