防相酬。經意：空生見佛舉相以問，即知不得相求，故答不也。
Preventing marks in response: the sūtra's meaning is that Subhūti, seeing the Buddha raise marks to question him, immediately knew that one must not seek [the Buddha] through marks, and therefore answered 'No.'
