魏云下。引魏本會文。魏經有之，此經闕者，羅什巧譯妙在影略耳。亦可此文通約現未為問，以佛世時亦有難信此深法者，如諸小乘及外道等，法華會上猶有退席聲聞，況今般若。至下佛答，但舉末世以況現在，末世尚有佛世豈無，故今秦本不言未來等也。

"The Wei [translation] states..." below: cites the Wei translation to harmonize the texts. The Wei sūtra has it, while this sūtra lacks it, because Kumārajīva's skillful translation was wondrous in its implicit brevity. Alternatively, this text may formulate the question broadly covering both the present and the future, since even during the Buddha's lifetime there were those who found it difficult to believe this profound Dharma, such as the various Hīnayāna adherents and non-Buddhists; even in the Lotus assembly there were śrāvakas who walked out, how much more so here with prajñā. When it comes to the Buddha's answer below, he merely cites the final age to illustrate the present: if there are such beings even in the final age, how could there be none in the Buddha's lifetime? Therefore the present Qin translation does not speak of the future, etc.
