4.157

章解句者。以句雖詮差別而未廣顯義理，以真妄形顯色心之中含多義故，章能明之，故云解句。章猶彰也。疏文順義，故先解句。

Regarding "sections explain sentences": although sentences signify distinctions, they have not yet extensively revealed the principles; because within true and false, shape and color, form and mind, multiple meanings are contained, sections can illuminate them; hence it is called explaining sentences. "Section" (章) is equivalent to "making clear" (彰). The commentary text accords with the meaning, and therefore explains sentences first.
