答：「所言第一者，蓋約無諍，不約離欲也。故經云：『我得無諍三昧人中最為第一。』又魏經云：『我若作念，世尊則不記我無諍行第一。』意者，以空生獨得無諍三昧故，於諸離欲羅漢之中，稱為第一也。」

Answer: "What is called 'foremost' is based on non-contention, not on freedom from desire. Therefore the sūtra states: 'Among those who have attained the samādhi of non-contention, I am the most foremost.' Furthermore, the Wei translation states: 'If I had formed this thought, the World-Honoured One would not have predicted me as foremost in the practice of non-contention.' The meaning is that, because Subhūti alone attained the samādhi of non-contention, he is proclaimed foremost among the desire-free arhats."
