反顯。經徵意云：以何義故得知無我等相？釋意云：若有我相應生瞋恨，既不瞋恨則無我相。如昔立誓若實無瞋身即平復，以無瞋故則知無我。以無我故，方成真實忍波羅蜜。支，離也。

Indirect revelation: The query in the sūtra implies: by what principle is it known that there are no characteristics of a self and so forth? The explanation implies: if there were a characteristic of a self, anger and resentment would have arisen; since anger and resentment did not arise, there was no characteristic of a self. Just as in the past a vow was made that if one were truly free of anger the body would be restored as before, because of the absence of anger one knows there was no self. Because there was no self, only then was the true pāramitā of forbearance accomplished. "Zhi" (支) means to sever (li).
