5.185

讚德者。以顯得真如為由心淨，心淨由不住法，不住法緣有智，有智蓋由聞經，當知此經有其勝德，故須讚歎以示將來勝德之相。即下十段總標經意。如文可知。

[Regarding] 'praising the virtues': To reveal that attaining tathatā is due to purity of mind, purity of mind is due to not abiding in dharmas, not abiding in dharmas is conditioned on possessing wisdom, and possessing wisdom is due to hearing the sūtra. One should know that this sūtra has supreme virtues; therefore it must be praised to demonstrate the characteristics of its future supreme virtues. The following ten passages summarize the intention of the sūtra, as is clear from the text.
