為欲下。釋。欲受其文故先讀，欲持其義故先誦，是故受持皆由讀誦，故分因果也。
'In order to wish...' and so forth explains it. Wishing to receive its text, one first reads it; wishing to hold its meaning, one first recites it. Therefore, receiving and holding both arise from reading and reciting; thus cause and fruit are distinguished.
