信經者。謂能所校量之中皆有勝劣，能中一河沙數為劣，三時多劫為勝。所中信經為劣，持說為勝。前則以劣況勝，此則以勝況劣，前淺後深，天地之遠矣。

"Having faith in the sūtra": this means that within the comparison between subject and object, there is superior and inferior in each. Among the subjects, the number of the sands of one river is inferior, while the three times of the day for many kalpas is superior. Among the objects, having faith in the sūtra is inferior, while upholding and explaining it is superior. The former used the inferior to highlight the superior; this uses the superior to highlight the inferior. The former was shallow and the latter deep, as far apart as heaven and earth.
