5.303

遍一切境者。如《華嚴》云：「法性遍在一切處」等，功德即相大，即大智慧光明遍照法界等，大體即體大，功德所依也。

"Pervading all objects": as the Avataṃsaka says: "Dharmatā pervades all places," and so forth. Merit is the greatness of characteristics—namely, the light of great wisdom pervasively illuminating the dharmadhātu, and so forth; the great essence is the greatness of essence, that upon which merits rely.
