6.127

緣因者。即施戒等五，與彼般若為資緣故。助即資也，資彼正因之力，斷煩惱成菩提也。猶燈能破暗顯空，必籍心油為助緣也。

"Contributory cause": namely, the five [pāramitās] such as giving and morality, which serve as supporting conditions for that prajñā. "Assisting" means supporting; supporting the power of that primary cause, severing afflictions and accomplishing bodhi. It is like a lamp being able to dispel darkness and reveal space, which must rely on the wick and oil as contributory conditions.
