遮念。經意云：汝若謂如來不以具足相故得菩提，莫作是念。文勢似重、意實不重，但前敘後遮也。《華嚴》偈中前半屬前文，後半屬此段。以文意鉤鎖，故就一處而引。既言不離色聲，豈合一向毀相？毀相非理，故此遮之。

Precluding the thought. The sūtra's intent is: if you say that the Tathāgata did not attain bodhi by means of complete marks, do not conceive this thought. The phrasing appears repetitive, but the intent is not actually repetitive; it simply first narrates and then precludes. In the Avataṃsaka verse, the first half belongs to the preceding text and the second half belongs to this section. Because the meaning of the texts is interlocked, it is cited all in one place. Since it says [the Buddha] is not apart from form and sound, how could it be right to exclusively disparage marks? Disparaging marks is contrary to principle; hence it is precluded here.
