According to this, having answered the three questions, the sūtra should have concluded and entered the transmission section. But because Subhūti gave rise to doubts regarding what the Tathāgata answered, they were severed for him; once severed, they arose again, multiplying and proliferating. Only when attachments were exhausted and doubts eliminated through the twenty-seven sections did the sūtra text continue further below.
