Regarding "a small child" and so forth: although worldly truth speaks of it, it is merely nominal existence; ordinary beings, being unperceptive, grasp it as real, just like a small child who grasps at things according to words. Seeing the five aggregates without comprehending the emptiness of dharmas is dharma-attachment. Grasping at conjunction without understanding the multiplicity of dharmas is self-attachment. Because neither attachment is eliminated, it is called "coveting and grasping at its affairs." Delusion regarding phenomenal things and dharmas is the cognitive obstacle. Afflictions are self-evident. Thus, based on the two attachments, the two obstacles arise.
