前既云實無有法得無上正覺，如何却有修證？故疑而問之。佛答有三：一答無法可得為正覺、二答平等為正覺、三答正助修善成正覺。初答如文可見。

Since it was earlier said that there is truly no dharma by which unexcelled correct awakening is attained, how then can there be cultivation and realization? Hence he doubted and inquired about it. The Buddha's reply has three parts: first, he replies that having no dharma that can be attained is correct awakening; second, he replies that equality is correct awakening; third, he replies that cultivating good through primary and auxiliary [practices] completes correct awakening.
