三、明無住為宗者，宗者，要也。經云：「應無所住。」經中多以無住破著，故以無住為宗也。

Third, clarifying non-abiding as the fundamental principle: 'fundamental principle' means the essential point. The sūtra says: 'One should have nothing on which to abide.' The sūtra frequently uses non-abiding to shatter attachment; therefore it takes non-abiding as its fundamental principle.
