將欲釋文，先於文首作五門分別：一明教興所由、二明藏攝分齊、三明教下所詮宗趣及能詮教體、四釋經題目、五分文解釋。

Before explaining the text, five introductory headings are first distinguished: first, clarifying the occasion for the arising of the teaching; second, clarifying the scope of its classification within the piṭakas; third, clarifying the central doctrine and purport conveyed by the teaching, as well as the essence of the teaching that conveys them; fourth, explaining the title of the sūtra; fifth, dividing and interpreting the text.
