The Buddha said: "Subhūti, if a good man or good woman were to take the seven treasures filling a great trichiliocosm and give them in charity; and if, moreover, there is a person who receives and upholds from this sūtra even as little as a four-line gāthā and explains it to others, their merit surpasses the former by an immeasurable and incalculable amount. Why is this? Subhūti, all the buddhas' dharmas of anuttarā samyaksambodhi all come forth from this sūtra, and all buddha-tathāgatas are born from this sūtra. Subhūti, what are called 'buddha-dharmas, buddha-dharmas' are not buddha-dharmas; therefore they are named 'buddha-dharmas.'"
