The Buddha addressed Subhūti: "If a bodhisattva speaks thus: 'I adorn buddha-lands,' that bodhisattva does not speak truly. Why is this? Subhūti, what the Tathāgata speaks of as adorning buddha-lands is non-adornment; therefore it is named adorning buddha-lands. Therefore, Subhūti, all bodhisattva-mahāsattvas should thus produce a pure mind without abiding anywhere: they should not abide in form to produce a mind; they should not abide in sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharmas to produce a mind; they should produce their mind without abiding anywhere."
