3.23

問：佛說般若，何故得益不同？答：《法華經》云「一地所生、一雨所潤，根莖大小差別自殊，如其種性各得生長。」今說般若亦復如是，雖說一法得益自差也。

Question: When the Buddha preaches prajñā, why are the benefits attained different? Answer: The Lotus Sūtra says, "Growing from the same earth and moistened by the same rain, their roots and stalks, large and small, are naturally distinct; according to their seed-nature, each attains growth." Now in preaching prajñā it is also like this: although a single Dharma is preached, the benefits attained are naturally distinct.
