4.33

問：此十信與別教中何位相似？答：奪而論之，別教地前次第修證，十住修從假入空觀，十行修從空入假觀，十迴向修中道正觀，圓教十信即能圓修三觀，不可論同。與而言之，即別教十迴向齊。

Question: To which stage in the distinctive teaching are these ten faiths similar? Answer: To assess them strictly: in the distinctive teaching, before the bhūmis, one cultivates and realizes progressively—in the ten abodes cultivating the contemplation of entering emptiness from provisionality, in the ten practices cultivating the contemplation of entering provisionality from emptiness, and in the ten dedications cultivating the correct contemplation of the Middle Way; the ten faiths of the perfect teaching are already able to cultivate the three contemplations perfectly, so they cannot be discussed as the same. To assess them generously, they are equal to the ten dedications of the distinctive teaching.
