問：緣覺出無佛世，無師自悟，今何故列為同聞眾？答：諸大仙人在雪山中悟因緣以得道，今聞如來放光動地，尋光而來，故阿難即列為同聞也。

Question: Pratyekabuddhas appear in an era without a Buddha and awaken on their own without a teacher; why are they now listed as members of the assembly who heard together? Answer: The great ṛṣis awakened to dependent origination in the Snow Mountains and attained the path; hearing now that the Tathāgata was emitting light and shaking the earth, they followed the light and came. Therefore Ānanda listed them among those who heard together.
