Fourth, from 'These three Buddhas above' on, collectively takes up the three kinds of numerous Buddhas above. Each individual Buddha speaks eight quadrillion verses, showing that what is taught is extensive, and now distinguishes the greater and lesser extents of the teaching. There are three clauses: first, dividing the sūtra into eight quadrillion verses; second, within a single verse dividing it into a thousand parts; third, within a single part, the meaning of a single line spoken is inexhaustible. Fifth, from 'How much more so' on, evaluates by comparison to faith. The text states that a single thought of faith surpasses the daśabhūmi: a single thought of faith in prajñā of having nothing to be attained (aprāptitva) surpasses the merit of practicing the daśabhūmi for a hundred thousand kalpas with something to be attained. The text says that it is identical with and no different from the Buddhas, and you should know that this person is precisely a Tathāgata and will attain Buddhahood before long: a Buddha is neither future nor present; to refute the future it says 'is precisely a Tathāgata', and to refute the present it says 'will attain Buddhahood before long'. How could one fixate on future, present, and the like to make a disputation? Sixth, from 'At that time, the assembly' on, hearing the Dharma and gaining benefit. The text states that one billion people attained the patience of the three emptinesses: this refers to emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. As for the patience of great emptiness, within the daśabhūmi, fundamental wisdom realizing suchness is called the patience of great emptiness. It is also called the emptiness of having nothing to be attained, hence it is called the patience of great emptiness. As for the nature of the daśabhūmi, it refers to the noble lineage from the first bhūmi upward.
