"These three Buddhas above spoke eight quadrillion verses of the Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra. Within a single verse, it is again divided into a thousand parts; within a single part, the meaning of a single line spoken is inexhaustible. How much more so for those who generate a single thought of faith in this sūtra: the merit of these beings surpasses that of practicing through the daśabhūmi and so forth for a hundred kalpas or a thousand kalpas. How much more so the merit of those who uphold, recite, and explain it: it is identical with and no different from that of the Buddhas of the ten directions. You should know that this person is precisely a Tathāgata and will attain Buddhahood before long." At that time, when the great assembly heard this sūtra spoken, one billion people attained the patience of the three emptinesses, and one quadrillion people attained the nature of the daśabhūmi, the patience of great emptiness.
