"He addressed the Buddha..." onwards is the main question. Within this there are two [parts]: First, he directly asks about the profound and immeasurable nature of the prajñā that was preached; second, from "How..." onwards, he concludes the intent of the question. In the preceding direct question there are three clauses praising the profundity of prajñā: First, it surpasses words, hence it is said to be "ineffable," because the path of words is cut off; second, it surpasses the realm of conceptual thought, hence it is said to be "incomprehensible," because it is deep and inexhaustible; third, it surpasses discursive reflection, hence it is said that it "cannot be known by consciousness," as it is not an object of discursive thought and cannot be reached by cogitation. From "How..." onwards, he next concludes the intent of the question: the nature of dharmas being thus, severing conditions and discarding contemplation, how can one comprehend it so as to enable all sentient beings to enter the path of emptiness? To "open up the path of the Dharma of emptiness" means that by realizing that existence is fundamentally empty, it is called "opening up emptiness." Empty as such can lead through, which is called "path"; hence it is said to "open up the path of the Dharma of emptiness."
