The phrase "eight eliminations-entrances" refers to the third virtue of the eight bases of mastery. What are termed the "eight" are: (1) internally having the perception of forms, observing external forms as few; (2) internally having the perception of forms, observing external forms as many; (3) internally lacking the perception of forms, observing external forms as few; (4) internally lacking the perception of forms, observing external forms as many; and internally lacking the perception of forms, observing external forms of blue, yellow, red, and white, which again constitute four kinds. The positing of their essence across the various schools is the same as for the universal bases above.
