Commentary: Second, individually praising their virtues. 'Heavenly absorptions' refers to retributive virtues. 'Virtue absorptions' refers to virtues produced through cultivation. 'Taste' refers to craving and relishing absorption; this is mentioned by association and is not an authentic virtue. One explanation says: it belongs to the preceding phrase, meaning 'the taste of virtue absorptions', which means experiencing the taste of the virtue absorptions. 'Constant joy and spiritual superknowledges': all four dhyānas possess five spiritual superknowledges, or perhaps six spiritual superknowledges.
