Exposition: Below, this is the second part: distinguishing emptiness through various categories. Within this there are two parts: first, distinguishing emptiness through various categories; and later, from “these dharmas” onward, explaining and establishing the meaning of emptiness by means of characteristics such as arising. This is the first. It means that when the emptiness of non-non-dharmas runs through the distinctions of dharmas, it constitutes seven kinds of emptiness. As for the emptiness of the seven dharmas: the real nature of all dharmas is fundamentally and naturally empty, not relying on the power of wisdom; this is called the emptiness of dharma-nature, which applies across the six categories below. The second is the five aggregates, the third is the twelve sense fields, and the fourth is the eighteen realms; the meaning of these three taxonomies is as explained above. The fifth is the six elements, namely the four great elements together with space and consciousness. The sixth is the four truths, and the seventh is the twelve links of dependent origination. These seven categories above are all non-non-dharmas; therefore, they are called empty.
