Commentary: Second, the emptiness of the three unconditioned [dharmas]. The text has three parts: first, the proposition; next, the explanation; and finally, the attribution. The statement "attains the three unconditioned" is the general proposition. The phrase "cessation through wisdom-deliberation" is also called analytical cessation (pratisaṃkhyā-nirodha). "Deliberation" means wisdom; the cessation obtained through wisdom severing obstructions is named analytical cessation. "Cessation not through wisdom-deliberation" is also called non-analytical cessation (apratisaṃkhyā-nirodha). Because it is a cessation obtained not through the power of wisdom, it is named cessation not through wisdom-deliberation, like the previously mentioned nirvāṇa of natural purity and so forth. The word "space" refers to the unconditioned space (ākāśa-asaṃskṛta). This means that where form does not manifest upon tathatā, it is figuratively called space. "The fruit of sarvajñā is empty" is the third, the attribution. That is, upon the unconditioned essence of the fruit of sarvajñā, three kinds are figuratively expressed.
