Commentary: From here below, second, there are four verses explaining conforming patience. There are two parts: first, three verses directly clarify the stages of practice; second, one verse clarifies the demarcation of severing afflictions. In the former part, there are three: first, one verse clarifies the Blazing Wisdom Stage; next, one verse clarifies the Superior Wisdom Stage; and last, one verse clarifies the Dharma Manifestation Stage. Here, clarifying the Blazing Wisdom Stage refers to the fourth of the ten bhūmis, the Stage of Blazing Wisdom. The text has three distinct sections: first, indicating the name and assigning the stage; next, the breadth or narrowness of the transformed lands; and last, revealing the specific practice of the bhūmi. "Blazing Wisdom, Marvelous Radiance" is the first: indicating the distinct name of the bhūmi. The radiance of wisdom of the factors of awakening severs the cognitive obscurations like a flame burning firewood. Mentioning both phenomenon and metaphor together, it is called "Blazing Wisdom, Marvelous Radiance." Among the ten pāramitās, practicing the vigor pāramitā is called "Great Vigor." Assigning the king and encompassing the lands can be known from the sūtra. In revealing the specific practice, "true wisdom takes tranquility as object in the path of skillful means" briefly divides two wisdoms: first, true fundamental wisdom, which takes only tranquil tathatā as its object; second, subsequently attained skillful-means wisdom, which commonly takes both the ultimate and conventional as its object. Therefore, it now merely cites the path of skillful means without discerning what is taken as object. The lower line explains the two wisdoms again. "Penetrating non-arising" explains the aforementioned true wisdom. "Illumining and thoroughly comprehending emptiness and existence" explains the subsequently attained wisdom commonly illumining both the ultimate and conventional.
