釋曰：第四、有三句顯地別行。有其三義：初句照俗、次句重釋、後句照真。此即初也。依《本記》云「道前為過去，道中為現在，道後為未來。」

Commentary: Fourth, there are three lines revealing the distinct practice of the bhūmi. There are three meanings: the first line illuminates the conventional; the next line re-explains it; and the last line illuminates the ultimate. This is the first. According to the *Benji*, 'Prior to the path is the past; during the path is the present; after the path is the future.'
