The commentary states: From here on, third, the Tathāgata confirms and approves the understanding. The text is divided into two parts: first, praising the king's ability to expound; afterward, from 'Good son' downward, praising the Dharma that was expounded. In the former, there are two parts: first, praising the king's ability to expound; afterward, the World-Honoured One's confirmation and praise. In [the first, praising his] ability to expound, the text has two sections: first, indicating the assembly addressed; afterward, directly praising [him] before the assembly. This is the first. It means that among the audience, the heavenly multitude is the most supreme; or having attained the noble fruition, they are real and not emanations; hence they are called 'those who attained the fruit of the Path, real.' 'Heavenly multitude, Good son, etc.' is the second, directly praising him before the assembly. Narrating the present superiority over the past, he accomplishes the lion's roar. That is, in the past under the Buddha Prabhāpāla, he was the fourth bodhi-being of Flaming Wisdom, and I was the eighth bodhi-being of Equal Contemplation; now I have attained buddhahood, and you have reached the ninth bhūmi and made the lion's roar.
