2.32

釋曰：第三、緣三世因果忍。謂緣過去，唯因非果；若緣現在，亦因亦果，望前後故；緣未來世，唯果非因，在後時故。此亦是慧，忍受前境故名為忍。

Explanation: Third, the patience cognising cause and effect across the three periods of time. When cognising the past, it is only cause and not fruit; when cognising the present, it is both cause and fruit, looking toward the past and the future; when cognising the future period, it is only fruit and not cause, because it is at a later time. This too is wisdom; because it endures and accepts the objects before it, it is called patience.
