釋曰：自下第二明色心成十二處等。文別有三：初總明一色生無量色、次「眼所得」下。別明所生諸色、後「如是一色」下總結能生色心。此即初也。謂一色法能生五塵等色。若具應言此一心法，生一心法或無量心。今總略故，但說生識。

Commentary: From here down, the second [part] explains that matter and mind constitute the twelve āyatanas and so forth. The text has three distinct parts: first, generally explaining that one matter produces immeasurable matter; next, from “what the eye apprehends...” downward, separately explaining the various matters produced; later, from “such one matter...” downward, concluding the matter and mind that are able to produce. This is the first. This means that a single material dharma can produce the matter of the five dusts (sense objects) and so forth. If complete, it should say that this single mental dharma produces a single mental dharma or immeasurable minds. Now, being general and brief, it only speaks of producing consciousness.
