釋曰：第二、釋所生多色。文別有二：初明生五境、後明生五根。境中有二：初明所造五境、後釋能造四大。此釋五境。若具應言法處所攝色；或可此經不明法處所攝色，是故不說。

Commentary: Second, explaining the multiple matters produced. The text has two distinct parts: first, explaining the production of the five cognitive objects; later, explaining the production of the five faculties. In [the section on] cognitive objects, there are two parts: first, explaining the derived five cognitive objects; later, explaining the four great elements that are able to produce them. Here it explains the five cognitive objects. If complete, it should speak of matter subsumed under the sphere of mental objects (dharmāyatana); or perhaps this sūtra does not treat matter subsumed under the sphere of mental objects, and therefore it is not mentioned.
