Commentary: Fourth, the approach of differentiation by the four castes. However, in explaining this text, there are two explanations. One says: “Illusory transformations seeing illusory transformations” generally indicates that both the transformer and those to be transformed are illusory transformations. From “brāhmaṇas...” up to “are called the illusory truth” mutually reveals that both the transformer and those to be transformed possess the four castes. The ātman and sentient beings, fully possessing matter and mind, are all called the illusory truth. Another says: the phrase “illusory transformations” indicates the person who transforms; “seeing illusory transformations” and so forth up to “are called the illusory truth” are all those who are transformed.
