Commentary: Second, directly explaining according to the text. Regarding internal protection, the text is divided into three parts: first, the 'Chapter on Contemplating Emptiness' clarifies the practice of self-benefit; next, the 'Chapter on Teaching and Converting' clarifies the practice of benefiting others; finally, the 'Chapter on the Two Truths' clarifies the basis of the two protections. The preceding text has already explained the former two practices; this is the third, the basis of the two protections. If relying on the Benji, one chapter is broadly divided into three parts: first, questions and answers distinguishing that the two truths are non-dual; second, from 'addressed the Buddha, saying' onward, questions and answers distinguishing that the expounding of the Dharma is non-dual; third, from 'addressed the Buddha, saying' onward, questions and answers distinguishing that the Dharma approaches are non-dual. Now my interpretation is to divide it into five parts, the first three being identical to the above; fourth, from 'Great King, the seven buddhas' onward, praising the sūtra's merit; fifth, from 'Great King, this sūtra' onward, praising its title and encouraging upholding it. In the first section, there are first questions and then answers. In the question there are three parts: first, two inquiries; next, paired dilemmas; finally, a general conclusion. This is the first part. That is, the king presents two inquiries: within the paramārtha-satya, is there conventional truth, or is there no conventional truth ('not' means none)? Intending to set forth dilemmas, he therefore makes two inquiries.
