釋曰：第四、舉劣顯勝。文別有二：初舉劣、後「是定人」下顯勝。前中有二：初上釋劣位、後「雖以」下釋通伏難。前中有三：初法、次喻、後合。此即法說。謂習忍以前十信菩薩，有退有進，故名劣位。

Explanation: Fourth is citing the inferior to reveal the superior. The text has two distinct parts: first citing the inferior, and later, from "this determined person" downward, revealing the superior. The former part has two sections: first, explaining the inferior stage above; and later, from "although with" downward, resolving an underlying objection. The former part has three points: first the dharma, next the analogy, and then the application. This is the statement of the dharma. It means that prior to the patience of practice, bodhisattvas of the ten faiths have retrogression and advancement, and are therefore called the inferior stage.
