釋曰：第二、辨觀差別。文別有三：初顯地別行、次辨位除障、後明滿足。前中有二：初標三明觀、後釋其行相。此即初也。三明觀者，一宿命智明、二生死智明、三漏盡智明，廣如〈序品〉。

Explanation: Second, distinguishing the differences of contemplation. The text has three parts: first, showing the distinct practice of the bhūmi; next, distinguishing the elimination of hindrances in this rank; and finally, clarifying its fulfillment. In the first, there are two: first, marking the contemplation of the three clarities; and next, explaining its active characteristics. This is the first. The contemplation of the three clarities refers to: first, the clarity of knowledge of past lives; second, the clarity of knowledge of birth and death; and third, the clarity of knowledge of the exhaustion of outflows, as explained in detail in the 'Introductory Chapter'.
