Explanation: From here below is the seventh Dharma master. The text has three parts: first, marking the rank and setting forth the name; next, showing the distinct practice of the bhūmi; and finally, the temporal stage of the rank of practice. This is the first. 'Jñeyam' (爾炎) is translated here as 'mother of wisdom'. It means that within this rank, the twofold emptiness of persons and dharmas is able to give birth to the noble path, hence it is named 'mother of wisdom'. 'Sage-awakened and thoroughly penetrating' refers to the noble wisdom that is born. In the preceding three bhūmis, the practice of giving, discipline, and cultivation is similar to that of ordinary persons; in this rank, one gives rise to the contemplation of the limbs of the path, first realizing noble awakening and thoroughly penetrating the principle of the twofold emptiness, hence it is named 'sage-awakened and thoroughly penetrating'.
