3.57

釋曰：自下第三依時能護。文別有二：初依七佛所說能護、後「第一法師」下依順別理以明能護因。此即初也。問：如何一日能說八千億偈？答：如來冥加，故能說之。偈數多少，後當會釋。

Commentary: From here down, third, being able to protect according to the time. The text falls into two parts: first, being able to protect by relying on what was taught by the seven buddhas; later, from "the first Dharma master" down, clarifying the cause of the ability to protect by relying on and according with particular principles. This is the first. Question: How could eight hundred billion verses be spoken in one day? Answer: Through the unseen empowerment of the Tathāgata, he was therefore able to speak them. As for the greater or lesser number of verses, this will be reconciled later.
