The Commentary says: Second, raising a simile to reiterate the explanation. Explaining the characteristics of this simile: as in the Padmamukha-sūtra, the Buddha told Ānanda: "For example, when a lion's life ends and its body dies, whatever beings there are, whether in the air or on the ground, in water or on land, do not dare eat that lion's flesh. Only worms born from the lion's own body turn back to devour the lion's flesh. Ānanda! My Buddha-Dharma cannot be destroyed by others; it is the evil monks within my Dharma who destroy the Buddha-Dharma that I accumulated through arduous effort during three great asaṃkhyeya kalpas." The explanation states: that sūtra only uses the simile for ordained monks, not like this sūtra which applies the simile generally to both the ordained and the laity.
