The Commentary says: Third, incurring retribution. There are three parts within this: first, the doctrinal statement; next, the simile; and afterwards, the application. This is the doctrinal statement. Within this there are three: first, clarifying visible-life retribution; next, revealing rebirth retribution; and afterwards, distinguishing subsequent retribution. This clarifies visible-life retribution. There are five kinds: first, destroying the Buddha's teaching; second, lacking filial children; third, the six relations being in disharmony (parents, siblings, husband and wife); fourth, celestial spirits not protecting them, and so forth; and fifth, calamities and portents not ceasing.
