Exposition: 'From all the pores of his body': wishing to preach the sūtra, he first entered samādhi; to startle both ordinary beings and noble ones, he manifested a portent and emitted light. From the wheel-marks on the Buddha's feet up to the crown of his head, all the pores of his entire body flowed with illumination. 'Universally illuminating the buddha-lands as numerous as the sands of the Ganges in the ten directions': wherever there were [receptive] conditions, [the light] appeared there; this refers to what was illuminated. Hereafter follows the third section, the rain of flowers as an offering. The text is divided into two: first, explaining the desire and form [realms]; second, explaining the formless [realm]. The first text again has three parts: first, the raining of flowers from the desire realm.
