Fifth, subsumption under assembly: the Great Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra was spoken in total across four places and sixteen assemblies. As for the four places: first, Gṛdhrakūṭa Mountain in Rājagṛha; second, Anāthapiṇḍada's park in Śrāvastī; third, the Hall of the Mani Jewel Storehouse in the Paranirmitavaśavartin Heaven palace; fourth, beside the White Heron Pond in the Bamboo Grove of Rājagṛha. Of its sixteen assemblies, the first five divisions have no other titles, but merely designate their division titles by sequential numbers. The next three divisions take their names from the requesters: the sixth is the "Supreme Heavenly King Division"; the seventh is the "Mañjuśrī Division"; the eighth is the "Nāgaśrī Division". The final eight divisions take what they expound as their titles: the ninth is the "Diamond-Cutter Division"; the tenth is the "Prajñānaya Division"; and the remaining six divisions are titled according to the six pāramitās respectively. However, among the four places, this sūtra shares the first place; but among the sixteen assemblies, this assembly's sūtra is not included. It is like an isolated and outstanding peak amid an unbroken chain of long mountains, or a distinct inlet under clear skies beside the billowing Bohai Sea. Those who unfold it survey three asaṃkhyeya kalpas while seated; those who search it view the ten bhūmis in full. The deluded who view it cease to be confused; the awakened who rely on it ascend the stages. The gates of bodhisattva practice are like opening one's palms; the distance or proximity of the buddha fruit excavates the mirror to meld the mind. With pure faith, merit surpasses the sands of the Ganges; with upholding and recitation, calamities roll away like mist. Nothing is greater than this for pacifying the people and protecting the state, to repay [the Buddha's] benevolence in accordance with vows by praising it for dust-mote kalpas.
