The commentary explains: Surpassing the fruits of the two vehicles, both of learners and non-learners. As for 'all good grounds', according to the Mahāprajñāpāramitā Sūtra, there are ten grounds practiced in common by the three vehicles: first, the ground of dry wisdom; second, the ground of nature; third, the ground of the eight persons; fourth, the ground of seeing; fifth, the ground of thinning; sixth, the ground of freedom from defilement; seventh, the ground of having accomplished; eighth, the ground of the pratyekabuddha; ninth, the ground of the bodhisattva; tenth, the ground of the tathāgata. Among these ten, the bodhisattva is the ninth. Now, in the stage of the acquired lineage, because they generate the great thought and cultivate both benefits together, although this is lower kṣānti, it immediately surpasses the preceding eight; hence it is said to 'surpass all good grounds'. Also, in terms of meaning: the two vehicles both have [the stages of] seeing, cultivation, and non-learning; the bodhisattva surpasses them, hence 'all'. Furthermore, in the Mahāyāna-samāna-artha Sūtra, the three vehicles and the Buddha each have ten grounds; this surpasses the former two, and so is called 'all'. Next is the third [section], concluding that it is the noble embryo.
