解曰：諸佛菩薩不依忍門次第修證，更無異路得成佛故。從此第二明起淨信。於中分二：且初第一明信超劫。

The commentary states: Because if all buddhas and bodhisattvas do not sequentially cultivate and realize according to the gate of kṣānti, there is no other path by which they can achieve buddhahood. Hereafter is the second [division], explaining the arising of pure faith. In this there are two divisions: first, explaining that faith transcends kalpas.
